Garden Barometer

About this site

A small automatic weather station sits on a pole at the end of a terraced garden, about 2.5 metres up, and reports temperature, humidity, pressure, rainfall and wind to a display on the kitchen windowsill every minute. I have kept the readings since the spring of 2024 in a spreadsheet and a paper logbook, and I have kept a separate notebook of what the sky was doing at the same time.

These pages are about both. The instruments tell me what the air is doing in one garden; the clouds tell me what it is about to do over the whole town. Learning to read one against the other has been the pleasure of it. Nothing here is forecasting in any serious sense. It is looking up, writing down, and comparing the next morning.
